Experience That Informs Judgment.
Meads Bay Partners is an independent advisory firm founded by Scott R. Elkins to give private equity firms, boards, and portfolio company leaders an operating perspective on investment, growth, leadership, and governance.
That perspective cannot come from a framework. It comes from having sat in more than one seat: building a business as an owner-operator, partnering with private equity to scale an acquisition-driven platform, leading that platform as CEO under institutional ownership, and later serving on its board as Executive Chairman. That range shapes how ownership, the board, and management priorities intersect as an investment develops.
Scott R. Elkins
Founder and Managing Partner
Scott has spent nearly four decades building, operating, and governing businesses, most recently as founder and CEO, now Executive Chairman, of a private-equity-backed fire protection and life-safety platform he grew through acquisitions, integration, and management development, working directly with ownership and the board.
Scott has turned that experience toward other sectors where private equity is pursuing a similar playbook, acquiring a strong regional operator, expanding through add-ons, and professionalizing management and governance along the way. That includes distributed and field-service businesses built around trucks, technicians, and route density, and often strong recurring revenue opportunities, where the same dynamics apply.
Scott has served on the boards of NetOne (Chairman for 20 of his 23 years on the board), The Monitoring Association, the Electronic Security Association, and The Constitutional Walking Tour of Philadelphia. He holds U.S. Patent No. 7,155,739, was named EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® for Greater Philadelphia in 2025, and holds a Master of Science in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.
The Value of an Operator's Perspective
Operating experience creates pattern recognition. It shows up when the pace of acquisition outstrips management capacity, when an organizational structure that worked at one scale no longer works at the next, or when infrastructure quietly becomes the real constraint on growth. Recognizing those patterns early adds practical judgment to the work of deal teams, boards, and management teams alike.
HOW WE WORK
Perspective. Connecting the investment thesis to the operating model, leadership, and governance required to support it.
Judgment. Applying pattern recognition where data alone doesn't provide the answer.
Candor. Naming the assumptions and issues that deserve attention, even when uncomfortable.
Stewardship. Creating value without eroding the people, culture, and operating strengths that built it in the first place.
